Welcome my new sponsor: Baby Brezza

You may have noticed a new sponsor on my left sidebar, well I would like to give them a formal introduction.  Baby Brezza makes mealtime appliances for your baby, such as the one step baby food maker.
I wish  I had this when my kids were on baby food, it is really convenient.  Many moms are now making their own baby food which is healthier and more nutritious than store bought foods, and this little guy steams and blends it all for you.

"This patented, multi-functional baby food maker allows you to steam and blend fruits, vegetables, meats and fish all in one bowl quickly and easily. In as little as fifteen minutes, you can have a healthful, nutritious and delicious meal ready for your baby – and the satisfaction of knowing that you made it yourself"

This baby food maker simplifies the process by using the same bowl for cooking and blending, so you don't have to move the hot food into the food processor.  This machine is also multi-functional so it allows you to:
•Steam and Blend
•Steam only
•Blend only

Clean up is super easy because the bowl and blade are dishwasher safe and of course BPA/Phthalate Free, making it safe for your baby.

They also offer a wide variety of accessories such as a cutting board, grain basket, cleaning brushes and more.  You really have to see the website for everything they have to offer.

Blackberry Muffins

I'm addicted to muffins, especially warm out of the oven.  Since I still had blackberries in my freezer from this past summer, I decided to use them up and make some blackberry muffins.  The blackberries I used are wild ones that we picked near our home, if you are using the giant ones that stores sell, you might want to cut them in half.

2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 Tbsp baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2 large eggs
1 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon milk
1 cup sugar
8 Tbsp warm melted butter (1 stick)
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups blackberries, you can use frozen blackberries, defrost and drain them first.

Preheat oven to 400°F. Grease a 12 muffin pan or line with paper muffin cups.  Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and salt in a large bowl.  In a separate bowl, mix together eggs, sour cream, milk, sugar, butter and vanilla.  Combine the wet mixture with the dry mixture and mix together with a few light strokes, just until the dry ingredients are moistened. Add the berries. Do not overmix or muffins will not be fluffy.  Divide the batter evenly among the muffin cups. Bake 17-20 minutes

Great Job Girls!

Well Girl Scout cookie sales are over and my girls did a really great job....over 2,600 boxes sold, and we haven't even had booth sales yet!  I'm so proud of them!  I just submitted our order, fingers crossed it was all right.  They want to go roller skating with the money that we earned, and we are soooo going.  We also made a really neat banner to use during our booth sales.  There is actually a competition going on for the best decorated cookie booth....we're planning on winning :)  The crazy part is going to be picking up all the cookies, sorting them and delivering...anyone want to help?

Boiron Homeopathic Value Pack Review and Giveaway

Even wondered what Homeopathy is all about?  Homeopathic medicines are safer alternatives to regular medications, they are sometimes called whole medicines.

"Homeopathic medicines are therapeutically active micro-doses of mineral, botanical and biological substances.  They are reliable and safe drugs, therefore considered by many as an excellent first choice when self-medicating."

Homeopathy was developed in Germany over 200 years ago, building a remarkable safety record and generating a great body of knowledge.  It has been practiced in the United States since the 19th century.  Today, homeopathy is used by millions of patients in more than 65 countries and recommended by more than 400,000 health care providers.

Boiron has a line of Homeopathic medicines for the cold and the flu.  Coldcalm, for cold symptoms, is a multi-ingredient formula that naturally treats cold symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, sinus and nasal congestion and minor sore throats.  There are absolutely no side effects and Coldcalm is safe for adults and children 3 and older.  These tablets dissolve quickly and don't really have a flavor to them, the only down side is you have to take them more often than traditional medication.
Chestal is a natural cough reliever made with a natural honey base.  It helps loosen phlegm and thin bronchial secretions.  Again there are no side-effects or drowsiness and no drug interaction.  Anyone over the age of 2 can take this and there are no artificial colors or flavors.  My daughter loves this stuff.  She sometimes wakes up with coughing fits and this stuff works like a charm, and it tastes great, she actually asks for it herself.
Oscillococcinum is for flu-like symptoms.  It works the best when it is taken at the first sign of symptoms such as feeling run down, headaches, body aches chills and fever.  No side effects, no drowsiness and no drug interactions.  This medication shown in clinical studies to help reduce the length and severity of flu like symptoms and is also safe for anyone ages 2 and up.  This medication is in a little container, it actually looks like the candy Nerds, little pellets, and it tastes great.
I'm not a doctor, nor do I qualify to give any medical advice, all I know is that it can't be good for our bodies to take all these traditional medicines all the time.  Boiron line of homeopathic medicines are a really nice alternative, especially for treating our children.

One of my readers will win a Boiron value pack which will consist of one of each, Coldcalm, Chestal, and Oscillococcinum.  Here is how to enter:

Smiley Cookie Review

There is nothing better than getting a box of smiling cookies in the mail...NOTHING!  Ok, well I'm sure there is something, but getting a box of heart shaped, smiling, frosted sugar cookies delivered to your door is guaranteed to make your day much, much brighter...especially when they come in this adorable smiley face box.

Almost too cute to eat...almost :)
These were delicious, and the cookies are pretty big too.  Weather you are looking for a sweet Valentine to send to someone, or you want a little treat for yourself, these heart shaped cookies will hit the spot.  Our family has a ginormous (yes, its a word) sweet tooth, so these lovelies did not last very long at our house.

"Now baked fresh with the same artistry and pure ingredients as our original Smiley Face Cookies, our sugar cookie hearts come delicately hand-iced with a pink base and white face that says love with a smile."

Smiley Cookie offers a wide variety of gourmet cookies and gift baskets.  I think these would be great for a baby shower too.  You can get a dozen for $13.99 by visiting their website.

Easy Bird Seed Cakes

We did this project with the Girl Scout Troop, then we did it at home with the kids I babysit.  Its a little messy but its fun.  You will need a bag of bird seed, lard, plastic cups (yogurt cups work good too), oats, raisins and some string.  Combine one part lard to two parts seeds/raisins/oats, you can let the kids squish it all together in a bowl using their hands.

You will need plenty of lard or the cakes won't stay stuck together.  The lard is greasy and gooey so make sure you have rags or paper towels handy.  Have the kids pack the mixture in the cups, pack it down as hard as you can.  We used some plastic cups that we had left over from a party but you can use just about anything because the lard makes the seed cakes come out of the container easily.

Packing the cups is super easy, we scooped with a spoon and then pushed down with our hands to make sure the cups were packed nice and full.

Next you will need to put the filled cups in your freezer overnight.  When you remove them the next day, they should slide out pretty easily but if you need to, you can cut the cup off of the seed cake.  Ours slid out with no problems.

You can tie some string or twine around the finished cake and hang it in a tree or bush outside.  You can also just set it on a window sill where you can watch the birds.  This is a good project to incorporate when learning about different kinds of birds in your area.

ZelaxZen Review and Giveaway

Its no secret that many of us who lead  busy lives sometimes have a hard time focusing, clearing our mind, or even falling asleep.  I sometimes find myself laying awake for hours, trying to fall asleep but not being able to stop my mind from racing.  RelaxZen has a line of relaxing little drinks designed to take some of that stress away.  With natural herbs, vitamins and amino acids, RelaxZen calms and focuses your mind, and enhances your attitude and outlook.  I got a chance to try two different shots, the Night (dark blue bottle) one and the Day one (red bottle).  I tried the night time one first, it has a fruity flavor that is really pleasant.  After drinking it I got comfy in my bed and waited.  Now what normally happens about that time is I start thinking about something that leads to thinking about something else, then some tossing and turning but not that night.  I really could feel myself relaxing, and before I knew it I was asleep.  When I woke up the next morning, I felt refreshed and ready for the day.  There were no side effects, I was not sleepy the next day, just fully rested.  I tried the daytime one a couple days later.  I drank it mid-morning, that is when I usually feel the most anxiety, and the rest of the day went pretty smoothly.

Just check out the Supplement Facts above, no calories, no fat, and no sugar...what it does contain is  200% Vitamin B6 and 200% Vitamin B12.  There are other RelaxZen Shots specially formulated for people that are traveling and even a sport one.  You can find a retailer by visiting their website or you can order online by visiting thirstmonger.com , there you can enter the code SMILE and get 10% off and free shipping on any RelaxZen product.

Three of my readers will get a chance to try RelaxZen for themselves.  Here is how to enter
