What DualTemp is, is a layer that goes on top of your mattress. It uses ActiveAir technology to balance the temperature of your bed. Air circulates through the layer and evenly distributes the warm or cool temperature. Each side of the DualTemp can be set to heat or cool via individual remotes and there are three settings for cool and three settings for warm. If you would like to see just how opposite me and my husband are, here is a picture of our remotes...
The DualTemp layer is very comfortable to sleep on, there are no wires or cords like an electric blanket.
There is a very quiet sound, much like a fan, that is actually very soothing and calming. I was a little worried about the additional thickness that it was going to add to our pillow top mattress, I thought that our fitted sheets would not fit over it, but they fit just fine. The top of the outer cover can be zipped off and washed in the washing machine on gentle cycle in cold water. I would probably not risk putting it in the dryer, although I have not tried it, I would not want it to shrink. My suggestion would be to hang it up to dry. You can also purchase replacement filters for the DualTemp layer right on their website for only $19.99, these should be washed or replaced every six months.
I cannot say enough good things about this product, it is one of my favorite things in my home. Not only can my husband and I stop arguing over the temperature in the bedroom, but we can also both get a restful nights sleep. I really missed my DualTemp when we were in Tennessee, I know I sound spoiled, but I really did.

I will be staying in Chicago this weekend for BlogHer at a very nice hotel, but I will be dreaming of my bed at home with the DualTemp on it, so warm and cozy.
Disclaimer: I would like to thank Sleep Number for providing me with a DualTemp layer and all opinions are my own.
